Talisman-R Floorstanding Speakers
A legacy, in tune with now
Our original Talisman was launched in 1990, and they did something most speakers never managed: they made people fall in love with how a speaker looked before they’d even heard them play. That slim silhouette, that sloped baffle, Talisman felt like they belonged in a home.
Talisman-R carries this legacy into the now. The connection between the original and new is clear, but with years of accumulated knowledge, Talisman-R incorporates innovations that bring a new level of performance along with a design that marries perfectly with our 100 Series aesthetic.

Talisman heritage
When we introduced the original Talisman in 1990, we were still a fledgling company looking to gain traction in the Hi-Fi world. Then (and still today) most speakers were rectangular and plain with little thought given to their aesthetic design and it was here that we saw our opportunity.
Talisman was developed as the antithesis to those ordinary speakers and became the model that defined Ruark and built our reputation for designing products that look as good as they sound.
‘Talisman-R are for people who care about their home as much as their music. Who want speakers that blend into a room but fill it at the same time.’

Natural, pure sound
Like the original, Talisman-R is a high-quality two way, bass reflex design and retains our preference for natural driver materials, featuring a custom designed 165mm long throw treated fibre NS+ woofer along with 27mm silk dome tweeter.
The drivers are unified via a carefully optimised crossover, with particular attention paid to phase integration, using premium audio-grade capacitors, resistors and low-loss inductors, for best signal transfer and reduced distortion. The outcome is speakers that produce a lifelike stereo soundstage with a natural and deeply engaging sound.
Engineered, inside and out
An area where we have paid special attention is in the development of the Talisman-R enclosures. In any loudspeaker, as much energy is transferred back into the cabinet as is projected forward, so controlling this energy is essential to achieving low-distortion sound.
The visible bolts on Talisman-R’s front baffle are integral to our decoupled baffle design, securing the baffle via elastomer bushes that, together with a dual damping strip, help prevent vibration from the drive units from passing into the main cabinet.
Internally, the enclosure is carefully braced to further reduce resonance and lined with compound wadding, which absorbs energy across a broader frequency range and helps control internal standing waves. The result is an enclosure with exceptionally low colouration, delivering sound that is clean, natural and pure.
Made to be heard and seen
The design and considered materials of Talisman-R make them as much a part of a room as the sound they create. Their form makes them inherently stable, but to further aid stability the plinth of each is machined from solid steel with threads on each corner for the supplied adjustable rubber feet and carpet spikes.
This extra mass lowers their centre of gravity further towards the base, so they are firmly grounded and when viewed from the front gives Talisman-R an attractive floating appearance.
Mix and match
Talisman-R are undoubtedly a tempting proposition for customers seeking high performance speakers for their existing hi-fi separates, but for customers wanting a complete music solution, Talisman-R and R710 together create a formidable package. Talisman-R also work well with our R610 Music Console, but whichever you choose, the thrill and delight that music and sound can bring is guaranteed.
